Love Grows and Grows

by Shannon Forster (Author), Pear Creative (Book design), Alexandra Zgondea (Illustrator)

Wow! This is an impressive book!
It is complete in every way – It has a very powerful message of inclusion – So carefully and well written.
The main character is Flora – a little flower girl. She is adapting to her family growing and having not only a mother but also a stepmother. The story breaks boundaries and teaches love by giving an example of loving behavior within an extended family.
The illustrations are beautiful – they create a delightful floral world full of details and ornaments. Great ambiance to dive in!
And as if this wasn’t enough – The book also manages to incorporate music with wonderful lyrics.
This children’s book is a clear, sparkling jewel – polished with so much love and care.
I definitely recommend it!

Never Let A Unicorn Get Spots!

by Diane Alber

Diane Alber wrote and illustrated this book, I am really impressed by how good she is doing both things. It’s a really rare thing to find a multitalented artist like this.
Both story and pictures are sooo fun, light and bright! What a great sense of humor! And the ending is so good and strong – Teaching kids about the healing power of art.
I feel very uplifted and inspired by this book – I strongly recommend it!

The Planet Chomper

by Thomas Hautaniemi (Author), Anastasiia Ku (Illustrator)

I enjoyed this book. I liked its message a lot.
It is about a hungry Chomper – he only knows the pleasure of eating the planets of the universe and nothing more. Until one day a really big, old planet teaches him how much better it feels to be friends with the planets instead of eating them. The book is very fun and clear – helping kids understand how love and sharing are so much more fulfilling than just wanting to take everything for oneself.
The illustrations are nice and fun as well.

Punkin

by Christine Conrad Cazes (Author), Kalpart (Illustrator)

A lovely book!
I feel like a lot of work and love has been put into it.
The story tells the life e of a pumpkin – the growth, the peak of it and the downfall to its end… a pumpkin’s seed survives to start a new cycle, leaving us with a bright ending.
I think the subject is very important and beautiful – Told in a moving and exciting way. Describes the good moments in life, also the scary and the sad ones… and, unites all in a beautiful message – clear and understandable for a child.
The illustrations of this book have a nice style, with big, colorful, clear shapes. I think it works well for kids.
I felt inspired by it. I would recommend!

The Dufflers – Fancy Dress, Feathers, Sticky Treacle, Yellow Paint and a Glove

by Anthony Evans (Author), Tom Burchell (Illustrator)

The Dufflers arrived at my house!
What a nice book! I got so excited by how good it looked. The Illustrations so original and interesting – I sat with my 6 year old kid, and we read it together!
We really liked it! The story is very fun and funny, able to engage very well with a child. Me and my son where smiling and laughing on every page.
As an illustration lover I was very pleased with the artwork – it has the kind of style that will never get outdated – simple, clean, clear and unique. Kind of reminded me a bit of Barbapapa – a little bit surreal and so effective. I was really fond of it.
I would definitely recommend this book for kids and children’s books lovers.

Two Giraffes

by Trevor Carss (Author, Illustrator, Narrator)

I really think this book deserves some attention! There are many things to learn from it.

It has a good story about being brave. But what really caught my attention was its design.
With a minimalist approach – stick giraffe figures on plain backgrounds – this author was able to create such an amazing visual dynamic, narrative and style. Each page is able to surprise you and bring different emotions into you.
Trev gives so much, using so little. Everything is clear and full of essence – got me really inspired!

My Teacher Dad

by Sonya Annita Song (Author), Kate Fallahee (Illustrator)

A funny story with very good illustration work!
The story is about a misbehaving teacher/dad that needs to be constantly put in line by his son.
The pictures really grabbed my attention on this one. They are cartoony style, colorful, expressive, full of details, very consistent and a lot of fun. Just awesome to look at!
